Dr. Jessica Casey, DVM – Bend Veterinarian
Dr. Jessica Casey was the fifth of seven children and grew up in a busy Wisconsin home filled with both kids and wide variety of pets. She first fell in love with the Pacific Northwest while obtaining a degree in psychology at Reed College in Portland. The lifelong love of animals and deep appreciation of human animal bond that first drew her to a focus on animal-assisted therapies was soon transformed into a passion for veterinary medicine. After working for a few years as a veterinary technician, Dr. Casey fulfilled two dreams by attending veterinary school in beautiful New Zealand, at Massey University. She then completed an internship with a focus on emergency and critical care at Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists in Wisconsin, before returning to Portland to join the team at Dove Lewis Emergency and Specialty Hospital. After over four years of the busy pace of that hospital – and the increasingly busy pace of Portland – she is thrilled to settle in Bend. Dr. Casey cares deeply about her patients and ensuring that they receive the best possible care. Areas of special interest for her include pain management, wound care, and immune mediated disease.
Outside of work, Dr. Casey is an avid backpacker and snowboarder. Her constant companion in these adventures is Jake, a Swiss Mountain Dog mix who adores the snow. At home, she most enjoys vegan cooking and baking. Jake seems to think all her creations are great, yet somehow does not choose to be vegan himself!
Dr Casey sees patients on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
